DWDM 100G OTN MSPP

Key features of UTL 100G DWDM System:

  • Multi-service / multi-protocol transport, aggregation of ten fully independent asynchronous 8.5Gbps to 11.3Gbps tributaries into a OTU4 signal
  • Asynchronous aggregation of ten independent 8.5Gbps to 11.3Gbps class signals into an OTU4 through AMP or OTN CBR mapping
  • OTU4 line interfaces with GFEC (ITU-T G.709 Reed-Solomon) / UFEC (Ultra FEC ITU G.975.1 I.7) /HG-FEC (High Gain FEC with 7% or 20% overhead provides better performance than the standard G.975.1
  • Extensive performance management capabilities and networking support for various client signals (OTN, Ethernet, SONET/SDH, Fiber Channel, InfiniBand)
  • Transparent transport of all 10G client signal
  • Provides Full G.709 Performance
  • Wavelength Tunable 100G line interface at 50Ghz with DP-QPSK Modulation
  • 1+1 Line Protection
  • Diagnostics features
  • Hot swappable
  • Low Power Design

Background:

In order to accommodate increased data, video, storage and TDM requirements of individual and enterprises,Carriers, Dark Fiber providers, Utility companies and ISP's are faced with a set of unique challenges: How to cost effectively leverage their existing and new optical networks in order to accommodate current growth and prepare for future expansion in the most effective manner. The considerations that are often taken into account at the planning stage of optical network expansion are as follows:

  • Multi-service / multi-protocol transport, aggregation of ten fully independent asynchronous 8.5Gbps to 11.3Gbps tributaries into a OTU4 signal
  • Asynchronous aggregation of ten independent 8.5Gbps to 11.3Gbps class signals into an OTU4 through AMP or OTN CBR mapping
  • OTU4 line interfaces with GFEC (ITU-T G.709 Reed-Solomon) / UFEC (Ultra FEC ITU G.975.1 I.7) /HG-FEC (High Gain FEC with 7% or 20% overhead provides better performance than the standard G.975.1
  • Extensive performance management capabilities and networking support for various client signals (OTN, Ethernet, SONET/SDH, Fiber Channel, InfiniBand)
  • Transparent transport of all 10G client signal
  • Provides Full G.709 Performance
  • Wavelength Tunable 100G line interface at 50Ghz with DP-QPSK Modulation
  • 1+1 Line Protection

Product Overview:

The 100G OTN Multi Service Provisioning Platform (MSPP) enhances the versatility and flexibility of WDM-based network design and implementation to unprecedented levels. This module is a Multi-Service Muxponder line card that incorporates 10 SFP+/XFP-based 8.5Gbps to 11.3 Gbps client ports and one 100G tunable wavelength line port. The module is two slots wide in the UTL DWDM 100G subrack which can accommodate up to eight 100G Muxponders.

The MSPP is capable of interfacing any 8.5Gbps to 11.3Gbps protocol at its client access ports in different mixing schemes and aggregate these services over an OTU4 line with FEC or UFEC/HG-FEC support. The access services can be any mix of the protocols STM-64, 10G WAN/LAN, OTU-2/2e/2f, FC-800/1200, 10G FICON, 10G InfiniBand, etc. Each client access port can host any standard SFP+/XFP.The card also gives restriction free operation to any standard SFP+/XFP supporting required rates.

On the service allocation side, the 100G MSPP 10-Port can take 10xany 10G(STM-64,10G WAN/LAN, OTU-2/2e/2f, FC-800/1200, 10G FICON, 10G InfiniBand) and transport these services over a G.709 OTU-4 based,50GHz spaced, ITU-compliant wavelength with selectable GFEC (ITU-T G.709) / UFEC (ITU-T G.975.1 I.7) / HG-FEC which providing a net coding gain of greater than 9.4dB @ standard 7% overhead. For Ultra Long Haul (ULH) and submarine applications the net coding gain can be further extended by increasing FEC overhead up to 20%.

The card supports different mapping methods described in ITU-T G.Sup43 12/2008 and ITU-T G.709 2009/12, offering various degrees of transparency to map and transport Ethernet and Fiber Channel client signals over Transport Networks: by synchronously mapping the data client over an ODU-2/2e/2f container.

Extensive performance monitoring is supported on all ports as required by most of the carrier-oriented management systems. Diagnostics Loopback per port can be remotely activated with the management module to facilitate troubleshooting and network maintenance. Full OTN overhead processing and monitoring is handled in the 100G Line interface.
